Period style door knobs & ironmongery
Period door knobs & Ironmongery:
Over the years we have managed to salvage many unique period products, particularly door knobs.
However, there has always been one overriding problem, it is now almost impossible to find a matching set with all pieces in good working order.
With this in mind we have spent the last few years having original period door knobs re-commissioned and reproducing the elegant designs made popular from mid Georgian all the way through to Edwardian times.
Whilst we have managed to keep the design the same as the original door knobs, we have ensured that the fittings meet modern day standards and the demands that will placed on them.
We make available many popular styles such as the ‘Beehive, the ‘Reeded’ and ‘Bun’ styles and they are available in an dark Ebonised hardwood, Solid Brass or a Nickel finish.
Each pair of Ebonised door knobs consist of 2 hand turned knobs with brass collars, 2 separate brass rose plates with simple reeding, 1 x spindle, fixing screws which have been antiqued to match and spare grub screw.
Each pair of Solid Brass or Nickel door knobs consist of 2 hand turned knobs, 2 separate rose plates with simple reeding, 1 x spindle, fixing screws which have either been antiqued or Nickel coated to match and spare grub screw.
We ensure that none of the brass work has been sealed or lacquered and so will mellow further and develop a wonderful patina.
These door knobs are equally suitable for a Rim or Mortice locks as the reeded rose plate comes separate.
The design of the grub screw is such that it is tapped through the brass collar of the door knob & NOT through the narrow/weakest part of the door knob - through the wooden shank or collar - like other designs for sale! This prevents any splitting of the wooden shank, which remains intact, as it has not be weakened, thus gives years of dependable use. For peace of mind also, each pair has included, a spare grub screw!
Each door knob set has been hand finished to ensure that authentic period used look is perfectly retained and comes wrapped in tissue paper & bubble wrap in the their own individual boxes.
These door knobs have that genuine period look and would really enhance and make a feature of any door.
