Carrying on from the success of offering all our customers Bespoke - Made to Order Cast Iron Radiators, we have been really pleased with the response to our RADS2GO option also.
At Coventry Demolition Company, we have been looking to increase ways of making the order process not only easier, but ensuring the customer gets their cast iron radiator order sooner.
With many companies showing a lead time to paint a cast iron radiator of up to 4 weeks form order to dispatch, we have been determined to shorten this time considerably.
Initially, it appeared sensible to concentrate on the most popular colour we offer - the Gun Metal/Anthracite (a deep metallic slate colour tone) in the new Rads2Go option.
Of all the cast iron radiators we supply, the Gun Metal/Anthracite is ordered probably on a 3 to 1 ratio compared to any of the other colours we offer.
So with this in mind, we can offer a wide selection of all our cast iron radiators top coated in the Gun Metal/Anthracite which are ready to be dispatched within 2-4 days of your order.
Potentially, this means that if you ordered you cast radiator on a Monday, it would be ready to collect or be dispatched in a few days. If you opted for a premium Overnight delivery (usually just an additional £15.00 + vat to most postcodes) you could receive your order sooner!
Speaking to our customers, this has helped many out enormously, ensuring that their projects are not held up unnecessarily.

Now is a great time to change to cast iron radiators.
OK, so summer is here and it has been and could again be, ridiculously hot outside (and about time I hear you say!) and the maybe the last thing your are thinking of on your 'to-do' list is to sort out getting the horrible modern radiators replaced with the traditional cast radiators you have always dreamt of getting.
Well, as silly as it seems, the spring and summer months are the best times for getting this job ticked off the list. Why, well firstly, have you ever tried to get a plumber or heating engineer to come round and quote let alone start a job on a wet and cold day in November in the autumn or winter months. If you have, then you will know that it is virtually impossible to get an appointment for them to pop over to see the job and if you do agree a date, then the likelyhood of them turning up is slim.
Now, I am not trying to trying to portray the plumbing and heating engineer fraternity in a bad light, quite to the contrary, the ones I have met work hard, turn up when agreed, stay behind to get the job done and sometimes clean up as well!
However, when the weather turns for the worst and as a nation we all turn our heating on and up to full to keep the the long cold and dark nights bearable, this is when many will encounter an issue with there heating having had it turned off or barely used for several weeks or months at a time.
Subsequently, this is when the pressure builds and customers begin to see that having the boiler serviced or heating system checked or the cast radiators fitted in the summer would have been a wise choice instead of re-building the B-B-Q or similar only for the weather to have 'rained on their parade' as sadly happened for many during the recent Jubilee celebrations.
The more sensible of you, dare I say, will have thought and used the weeks and months hot and great weather (I know I'm being optimistic about our UK summers, but bare with me here), when the importance of not having your heating available for a few days is less of an ordeal, to be able to install the replacement cast radiators, have the heating system checked and all without much inconvenience compared to that cold November day.
If you having your central heating checked or overhauled and new cast radiators fitted, don't forget about your valves to and do consider fitting Thermostatic valves to assist in saving energy and money in the long run. Whatever your project and whatever & whenever you decide to start looking at your heating system, please be sure to seek sound professional advice and don't be scared by letting your plumber know what you want rather than being coerced into something they would rather fit. Yes, cast radiators are heavy, they are cast iron after all!!! So often we hear of misleading stories saying how bad cast iron radiators are, how difficult they are to fit & costly to run.
If fitted correctly, they can even save you money in the long run as they retain and emit heat for longer when switched off and the are generally compatible with all modern pressurised systems.

Traditional Cast Iron Radiator Valves - What is the difference between a Manual valve & thermostatic (TRV) valve.
At Coventry Demolition Company, we are often asked 'what is the difference between a Manual Cast Radiator valve and Thermostatic (TRV) Cast Radiator valve?'
Well, the difference is relatively simple - Manual radiator valves, like our Crocus manual valve set or the simpler looking Traditional School Brass manual valve set, allow you to simply turn your traditional cast iron radiators fully on or off. You won't be able to regulate the heat output of your cast iron radiator as would be able to with a Thermostatic valve. However, generally, the up side is that manual valves tend to be a little cheaper are are easier to operate, usually from a central room or boiler set thermostat.
Thermostatic valves, like our Bentley thermostatic valve range or the more ornate Crocus Brass Thermostatic radiator valve set, will allow you to control the heat output of each cast iron radiator they are TRV fitted to, to the desired temperature for each room. Usually, the Thermostatic valves will have numbers or lines/rings to help you set what temperature you require.
For example, both the Bentley Thermostatic valve and the Crocus Brass Thermostatic valve sets have rings on the lock shield side, whilst the Elegance Chrome Thermostatic valve set has numbers 1 to 6. Each allows you choose a desired heat output from approx 6 degrees to 30 degrees depending on the design.
Many thermostatic (TRV) valve designs also have a 'Frost Protection' feature, which means that when the lock shield is fully turned in a clockwise direction (off position), the valve will continue to work when the temperature falls below 6-7degrees.
This may sound like an overly fussy feature, but given the extremely cold temperature we have recently experienced and the cases where, cast iron radiators have split and cracked because the water inside the heating system has frozen and expanded, these valves do offer greater peace of mind when you are away or forget to adjust your thermostats, for a few pounds more.
In these times where every penny counts and utility bills growing evermore expensive and, with more people being both cost and environmentally conscious, using a thermostatic radiator valve in the right rooms of your home could save you a little money in the long run, whilst making it more comfortable to live in.
How? Well, some rooms in your home will obviously be used more than others, for example, the living room, bedrooms and kitchens. Therefore, it would be advisable to use thermostatic valves in these areas because as the weather and temperatures change through the seasons, this affects the temperature in your home. So, if you fitted a thermostatic valve to your cast iron radiators in these rooms, you would be able to get full output from your cast iron radiator on a cold winter's day, keeping you lovely & warm. However, on a much warmer spring or summers day you would want to the output to be more lower, thus with a thermostatic valve set you can reduce the heat output to a more comfortable setting.
Using a manual radiator valve in these rooms doesn't give you this flexibility. You would either have the cast radiator turned on or turned off with no flexibilty in between.
With hallways & bathrooms, it is fine to have manual valves fitted as you really tend to need more ambient temperatures because you spend a lot less time actually living in them. This means you don't need to have constant variable control over the heat output of your cast radiators here.

Cast Iron Radiators - Keeping JD Wetherspoon customers warm and cosy.
For the past few years, through our relationship with several successful plumbing and mechanical service companies, Coventry Demolition Company has been supplying its popular cast iron radiators to the JD WETHERSPOON Pub Chain.
As one of the the few companies bucking the 'gloom & doom' of the last few years, JD WETHERSPOON have stuck to an extensive programme which will look to open 250 new pubs over a five year period. This just proves that despite what the media say, we still need a great local pub to meet with friends to cheer us up.
We have supplied cast radiators to many of their pubs and new hotels all over England and Scotland in a variety of heights, widths and styles, but all exude the charm of a bygone era.
At first, only reclaimed radiators were being used on these projects in order to keep the refurbishments in keeping with the building designs. However, we are reliably informed that due to the cost of reclaimed radiators and the many issues of leaks and problems with fixing the reclaimed radiators, a decision was taken to only use reproduction cast iron radiators and hence, we were approached to supply these.
The authentic neo-classic 4 column designs of cast radiators we can supply, along with the peace of mind that they are supplied fully pressure tested, the fantastic heat outputs compared to modern steel versions does mean that for the customer in the long run they gain wonderful feature for any room along with great value for the radiators themselves.
We have had to ensure that any deadlines are met or even beaten, turning around large order in a matter of days sometimes and that any specific design needs are met whilst maintaining great choice and value for all our products.
Whether we are supplying cast radiators to large pub chains or to individuals, we understand that all have tight deadlines to meet and budgets to stick to.

We are excited to be able to say that for NO EXTRA CHARGES, we will make your radiators to the sizes you require (within reason obviously!) and you just pay for the price of the sections used on a pro-rata basis and nothing for the additional work involved or pressure testing.
We will continue to offer our standard size cast iron radiators available through our website and salvage yard in Warwickshire, but we are happy to make radiators to size for those awkward spaces requiring specific sized cast radiators.

Cast Iron Radiators & Reclaimed Products help us buck the Recession!
Well, its been a while, so we thought we ought to update you about what we have been up to.2012 has proved to be a great year for our cast iron radiators and reclaimed products so far, continuing on from a busy 2011.
We have continued to build on last years sales and are looking forward to supplying more customers throughout the year.
Along with all the new DIY enthusiasts, who just pop into our Reclamation Yard in Warwickshire, buy our cast radiators or flooring or doors, put them in the back of your cars and go home to create a new feature in your homes, we have continued to work alongside national developers such as City & Country, supplying various radiators (in their 10's and 100's) to assist them with projects such as their Balls Park development in Hertfordshire and Bentley Priory development in Middlesex.
Our website continues to evolve and improve, making it much easier to purchase everything from an escutcheon or painted cast iron radiator with ease.
The new 'Rads & Add ons' page has proved a great hit with all our customers, allowing them to choose the cast iron radiator they want, its colour, the valves & wall stays all on the one page. It just doesn't get any easier to order now!
We have introduced new pages and information to assist customers with the Cast Iron Radiator FAQ's page and giving additional useful information by way of links to various organisations such as Salvo or companies we have supplied our products to.
Another great success has been introducing our Solid Oak Floor boards onto our web site which currently at only £34.95 + vat per sq m always keep our yard men busy on most days pulling orders for either delivery or collection.
This year will see us expand our Reclaimed and Unique and Garden Product ranges on the web site, from the mainstays such as reclaimed bricks and roofing tiles to such items as our fabulous life-size Robots!
All this talk of websites certainly doesn't mean that our Reclamation Yard isn't busy. On the contrary, Tina, continues to make sure that customers are excited about visiting us and are able to find what they came for and sometimes find something they weren't!
This has resulted in the number of customers coming to see us over the last few years increase dramatically making 2011 our best ever, which in these days of so called recession is something that Tina can be proud of.
